There is a reason why the hovse blog is a password-protected site.<\/em><\/p>\n This is a compendium of modern tunnel art. It consists of murals and larger works of text that have been put up since the fall of 2011.<\/p>\n Why 2011? Well, first and foremost, because a definition of “modern” needs to start somewhere. And everything before the fall of 2011 is before my time, so therefore I am defining everything post that point to be modern.<\/p>\n Secondly, Fall 2011 was notable because it was the start of Dean Kiewiet’s second reign.<\/p>\n Between PNGs, new policies, and paranoia, there was not much trust between the students and the administration. Because of the uncertainty of what would happen if even a small mistake were to occur, the self-imposed policy of many in the hovse — including of that year’s Troll — was a ban.<\/p>\n However, despite what pressures there may have been, life still moved on. There were still sets, people still gossiped and joked. And, even with our self-imposed ban, people still explored.<\/p>\n Pieces are grouped by creator when known and by subject when not. The listing here is (to my knowledge) complete through May 2014 unless otherwise noted.
